Microneedling – also known as collagen induction therapy – is an advanced nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that’s effective for treating a wide range of skin conditions.
By gently puncturing the skin with tiny sterile needles, microneedling triggers the body’s wound healing response. This causes your body to produce more collagen and elastin, hence the name collagen induction therapy. These natural proteins reduce swelling and scarring, giving your skin a plump and youthful appearance.
Microneedling is a popular treatment for reducing wrinkles, scarring and sun damage, as well as regulating skin pigmentation. It has also proven effective for repairing stretch marks, especially when combined with radio frequency.
This treatment can be safely used on all skin types, including darker skin, and on any part of the body.
How does microneedling work?
This treatment involves using a Dermapen® microneedling device equipped with many tiny needles. Your beauty technician passes the Dermapen® over the area of your skin to be treated, creating minute puncture wounds.
These wounds, which are invisible to the naked eye, stimulate your body to release collagen and elastin to repair the skin cells in the treated area. As a result, your skin becomes plump and smooth, leading to a reduction in wrinkles, scarring and sun damage.
We advise all clients to avoid using product or makeup on the skin on the day of treatment. If this isn’t possible, please arrive early to give our practitioners ample time to cleanse your skin and check for any sun exposure damage or irritation.
Aftercare treatments include hyaluronic acid or stem cell complex retinol serum for hydration, and SPF 50.
